Morelia, Michoacán

As we now leave the beautiful city of Guanajuato, we have our eyes set on an even more beautiful area of Mexico known as Morelia. Morelia is located in the lush, and fertile state of Michoacán. Morelia is known greatly for it's architecture and quaintness. By looking at its architecture is is clear to see that there is a great Spanish influence throughout the city. Morelia is the axis of art and culture in Michoacán with it's many markets and festivals of music. In a sense, Morelia reminds many of Spain through many of it's Baroque-style buildings and cobble-stone street plazas.

One of the more f
amous buildings in Morelia would have to be the "Sanctuary of Guadalupe". It was built originally as a church between 1708 and 1716. It was later converted into a monastery, but is now used by the University of Michoacán's law school. As you can see it is a very beautiful building from the inside. Adorned in gold leaf.
